Humayun Ahmed was a Bangladeshi author, playwright, screenwriter, and filmmaker. He was born on November 13, 1948, in Mohongonj, Netrokona, British India (now Bangladesh) and died on July 19, 2012, in New York, USA. Ahmed is considered one of the most popular writers in Bengali literature and has written more than 200 books, including novels, short stories, and essays. Many of his works have been adapted for films, television dramas, and stage plays. He also worked in television and film, directing several popular films such as "Ghetuputra Komola" and "Shyamal Chhaya". Ahmed was awarded numerous awards during his career, including the Ekushey Padak, the highest civilian award in Bangladesh for his contribution to Bengali literature. He was also a professor of Chemistry at the University of Dhaka before becoming a full-time writer. Ahmed's works often explore themes of love, family, social issues, and cultural identity.
